Sweet Summertime

When I think about the week at Miss NC, all I that comes to mind is a time of a lifetime. Being able to compete on the Miss NC stage was truly a blessing and I will be forever greatful. I had the best time during my stay at Peace College. To start I had the best roomate ever: Miss Statesville Whitney James! From the time I knocked on her door the first time..to our 2am talks before Thursday rehearsal, I know I have made a true friend. Thank you Whitney for making my experience wonderful, and being a friend I know I can always count on. Another part of my experience that was awesome was being apart of the awesome group A, aka A Game smile My group was compiled of Statesville, Moore County, Goldsboro, Spivey's corner, Mt. Holly, Hendersonville, Fayetteville, Eastern Carolina, and of course me UNCP. We all had a great time laughing, riding the van with Mrs. Barbara, meeting for the gym at 6:30am, and waiting on our girls so no one got left (haha sorry Lora.) Thank you group A for making me feel like we had known each other forever. I will cherish the friendships we have made, and hopefully one day we will get to have that lunch or dinner we all promised haha.

To the other Miss NC contestants, I had a wonderful time getting to know each and everyone of you! I thank you all for being so nice and opening your arms to one of the newbies smile I must give a shout out to Cabarrus County: Mallory Honeycutt. You are one of the sweetest people on earth! Thank you for the encouraging note and words before competition. Congrats on a job well done, and I promise we are having lunch when I am in Charlotte. I know we will be friends forever! To the Miss NC organization, thank you for putting together such a spectacular pageant. Your hospitaltiy was the best, and all the gifts, wonderful hostesses, sweet van rides, and food really made me feel at home. I can honestly say I will be back, so do not forget me smile A special thank you to the photographer for the week: Lenn Long. Your pictures were amazing, and thank you for making all the girls feel like queens the entire week.

Where would I be without my wonderful OT, Carolina Princesses, their families, my family, UNCP team and my awesome friends? Your neverending support, encouraging words, and smiling faces made the journey all worth the while. Thank you for always being my biggest fans, and never letting me down. I am truly greatful to have people like you in my life, and I am proud to have a strong support system standing right beside me.

Congratulations to our new Miss North Carolina Katherine Southard! You were amazing! I know you are going to have a wonderful year, and I expect nothing but the best at Miss America smile I know you will knock them all out of the water. I look forward to chatting with you at Miss UNCP! Goodluck and best wishes to a year filled with everything great you could imagine.

After unpacking, finally eating real food (hehe), seeing my wonderful family and friends, laying out by the pool, and heading back to my summer job babysitting the oh so funny Mackenzie, I am truly humbled by the journey I have just experienced. I will cherish my memories of Miss NC 2009 forever and I am very proud to have served at Miss UNCP and been apart of the class of 2009 smile After the pageant someone told me "you may not have won Miss NC, but you have served UNCP and the community well, and we are all proud to call you our Miss UNCP 2009." I am forever greatful for the blessing I have recieved. I will never stop dreaming, and believe me they are big dreams! I leave you with this bible verse: "The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath My word, let him speak My word faithfully." - Jer. 23:28

May you have a wonderful Wednesday and many blessings to you,

with all my love,
